If Raster-Noton did inspire you,
how can you possibly write the following?
They're a group of very obvious Eastern Germans.
Though the idea of Eastern Europeans as
American Trash, in the context of what is_
going on, amuses me tremendously.

As for jealousy natalie, that's likely your
'inspiration' from them coupled with desire
for mimicry–I can't imagine any being with
integrity being 'jealous' of raster-noton.

What inspires you in Raster-Noton, BTW?
The fact that Carsten Nicolai can't really
create anything, enlists a roster of losers
who allow themselves to be used with the vague
promise of fame, 'popularity' and success,
kisses ass and bends over for any curator
who would have him, misprints and mistreats
the artwork of anyone involved with him, usually
on purpose–and I don't think that an artist
complaining because his-her name was misspelled
on their release even though they provided the
correct files + information is doing it out
of jealousy–and I've heard the complaint
from more than one such, excluding myself.

Moreso, carsten Nicolai invited 12 artists
in 2000 to create the 20' to 2000 series
who won the Golden Nica–the award was
given to all 12 ppl involved + they were
invited to perform–yet Nicolai pocketed
the award by himself.

So which part about raster-noton's activities
inspired you? Mistreating people, theft,
or acting like a whore? There's not much
else going on there. Oh yes, I forgot–
false humility faux-populist fashion
posing.

And one other thing, Natalie, do you have
secret dreams of being Britney Spears?

Just curious,

"from the very beginning the, label policy has been to emphasize publishing series and not to highlight specific persons."
This is a statement is about identity and to me it says collective whole. but in the back of my raster-noton.oacis book all artist are listed and given recognition for there individual contribution. because these individual artists were not intent on just individual success there collaboration has been a profound one. The act of sharing is an amazing thing, this is also a pollitical statement.Ever been to a residency program? It seems to me that the label offers up the opportunity for artist to create. " where the artist can work with out worrying about time or cost." this to me is great the collective is great! i am not interested in mimicking anything as i siad before i think the video work is the least profound part of this collaboration and I have my own ideas for it but it is not my project.(by the way i have only seen the video work avialable on www.contour.net) The sound is the main focuse and that is not lacking in anyway individually or collectively. I tried to find my frist post about this subject east berlin- the only thing that comes to mind is i was very close to east berlin when i bought the book and CD or collective as in east berline was communist and that metophorically is collective. you wanna talk intergrity = honesty raster-noton has been honest as far as i am concerned. it appears to me that you are personally involved here. i am not. I simply came across some work that i think is great. i do not care about the fame and curator hodge podge all i care about is the work. It is unfortunate that in collaboration some people do not get total recognition but that is part of working in a group. if you whatch the emmy awards not all members of certian groups get to recieve the award maybe only one person walks away with it but everybody knows it took a whole lot of other people to make it happen kinda like how great architecture works consider, frank gerhy he gets tons of recognition and fame for something tons of people helped him do. do you hear anything about them? no… so ya thats where i am at i am sorry you are where you are at, perhaps you should communicate directly with ivan about the matter. i am just another artist another person i do not have connections to see that any action is taken for your compliants.I mean ivan did respond to you directlly perhaps you should express your compliants directlly to him so that this matter can get cleared up.

Officially, I'm cool with Death@Zaphod lately, truly. I say rage on thunder
thighs (comic book joke), I'll try to be a sideliner, try hard I mean.

I admit I'm damaged by fantasies of one day dating J.Lo. A friend worked on
a movie with Affleck at Santa Cruz U. film class undergrad and said "big
asshole." That friend is in my video, partly to reject the image of Affleck
Ascendant. Counter-post it, step one man! Move 2. So, I bet a different
friend 5 dollars I'd date J.Lo before 2010.

If Raster is a big fat porkuloid insult and Natalie loves the work, what DOES
that mean? Desire and jealousy, envy, isn't that the marketing of desire, a
coercive controlling architecture?

I also don't object to Death insulting Natalie by saying "do you fantasize
about being Britney Spears?" Natalie's a fighter so I'm not chiming in. I
fantasize about being Britney Spears, but I recently got to like and respect
Pink for her song about wishing she was Britney Spears, "I'm My Own Worst
Enemy".

There is a poet I heard about from an arab nation, a secular poet, named
Adonis, who said in an interview "we have to create our gods. And we have to
kill them."

Infatuation has to be the worst and ugliest artistic misuse of any novel
medium. It is the soporific of progress, leads to gangrene and rigor mortis.
If I were to make a list of the Seven Cardinal Genius 2000 Sins, and enforce
them, one would be infatuation.

I'm rightly accused of being infatuated with some things that do not exist,
yet by my way of seeing that is akin to the noblest faculty in the human
brain, its incarnation.

So, to the sin of Infatuation I offer the virtue of Rejection.

Compliante,

This is not a reality I portray–go speak to anyone involved.
That is, if you can gain access.

Of which there were none.

You were. I choose to find willful ignorance offensive.

grow up "death." your emails are often patronizing, and highly defensive!!
this is a community list. many of us enjoy the privilege of just hitting
delete, but if you don't think you can be insulting and weirdly "offended"
by fellow rhizomers' opinions, re-read your emails. – rachel

You grow up *Rachel*. None of my e-mails are patronizing, and there's
nothing wrong with self-responsibility–which is what my e-mails are
and not 'defensive. Unlike your personal e-mail to me which was both:
*Hello death–I logged in to find this flame war in my mailbox,
I demand an explanation-* << both patronizing and defensive.

I am not insulting. they're knee-jerking.
I am not responsible for their inability to control their impulses–
they are. And it is THEM who need to grow up.

I'm perfectly aware that you have an agenda with having many
subscribers on rhizome, and making sure there's not a lot of hub-ub going
on, and as such you'd victimize anyone standing in your way.

But you'll never be running an art list in that manner, as art
requires sincerity, integrity and force and the growth of the individual
self–and not stifling it in pseudo-intellectualism and sedated,
pleasant mechanical slumber.

Later.
