Aberrations of Time: Call for Video Works

Aberrations of Time: Call for Video Works
RUDI
Lilienblum 14, Tel Aviv, Israel

“A work of art is always present” – Ad Reinhardt,

A fundamental trait of the human self is its continuum experience of space and time. But aberrations in time are boundless: any work that is significant in the present changes the past. Writer Jorge Luis Borges spoke the precursors of Kafka, saying that many writers existed in a different way after the existence of Kafka, after Kafka’s writings. Aberrations in time are fantastically alluring – especially in the present moment, in which ideas of the future have dramatically changed into what Bourriaud has called our complete “loss of confidence in the ideas of the future.” Today’s future is seen only in yesterday’s science fiction. Today’s future can only be accessed through the past.

Aberrations of Time explore these thematic elements though a video exhibition. Works that touch on the following themes will be especially considered:
*Momentariness
*Historicity through the lens of the present or future
*Time Travel
*Futurism
*(Anti)Utopianism of the future
*Temporal separations between cause and effect
*Temporal shifts
*Alinearity in time
