al pastor

This is the best restaurant in NY. Anything "Al Pastor" is
transcendental. Tacos, burritos, it's all the same, just different
shapes. 9th Ave and 38th St. there's nothing over here.

So I'm looking out the window and I see these 2 monks outside.
Orange robes, shaved heads. Looks like they are just waiting for the
light to change to cross the street. Only they've been standing
there for the last 20 minutes.

Maybe they are talking about something. But neither appear to move.

And I am about to fall over laughing. Here's these two guys going
all out to find enlightenment and it's 5 feet away. They are just
standing there.

For 2 bucks a taco could send them into eternal bliss but they don't
move. Do they even know about this place? Because of the daylight,
the windows are like one way mirrors outside. They can only see
themselves.

It's like those rooms in zoos where they keep the reptiles. Those
places are always dark but the terrariums are always bright. pythons
as thick as a tree never see us gawking. Just reflections.

Besides, this must not be a big Buddhist hang out.

It's kind of a funny little dive. There are a million of them around
here. It's a local scene. Order in Spanish or just point.

But I am looking at these monks and thinking how ironic it is that
Nirvana is right here. What are they waiting for?

Then I see it. The answer. There was a sign posted but the route
must have changed. There was no bus coming.
