Teaching opportunities Digital Arts

Harford Community College's Visual Communications Department
is looking for qualified lecturers to teach the following classes this
Fall semester
within the Fine + Applied Arts Department.

ART 120: Introduction to Computer Graphics
This course establishes the foundation for all other computer based
classes within the Visual Communications Program. Students are
introduced to the computer as an art-making tool. Through a series of
lectures, demonstrations and studio work, students learn basic computer
navigation/practices, scanning, printing, through applications such as
Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark. Students are introduced to the
concepts of digital imaging and gain experience working in a digital
design studio. Two lecture and two laboratory hours per week.

Pay is commensurate with experience.
Two sections are open: Monday 8am-11:50 am and Wednesday 6pm-9:50pm
Classes meet once per week
Classes Begin September 4th, 2002 and run through December 11th, 2002


ART 260: Multimedia
This course expands the students' knowledge, skills and aesthetics in
the use of digital media. Through a series of lectures, demonstrations,
visual/conceptual problem-solving projects and critiques, students learn
the principles and techniques involved in multimedia production.
Emphasis will be on creating time-based, linear and non-linear,
interactive multimedia designs. Topics include designing for multimedia,
interactivity, linear and non-linear narratives and an introduction to
multimedia programming. Two lecture and two laboratory hours per week.

Software used to be determined: Previously used software includes:
Director, Flash, Premiere,
Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, After Effects

Pay is commensurate with experience.
