MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department Thesis Screening

School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents an MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department thesis screening, featuring videos by eight students in the department. The screenings will take place on May 10 and 11, 7pm, at the new Visual Arts Theater, 333 West 23rd Street, New York City.

Each night of programming will feature four videos. The May 10th screening will begin with Whisper in the Woods, an experimental tale by Steve Dassas. Immediately following will be Sharon A. Mooney’s Automatic, in which a man tries to take control of his stagnant life by writing letters to a woman he does not know. In Thenjuwe Nkosi’s Izwelethu (Our Land), a former South African exile and his daughter visit their ancestral homeland for the first time. The night will conclude with Peggy Arraou’s Aqui Estamos (Here We Are), the story of a Dominican man seeking a better life in New York.

The May 11th screening will feature: Remote Minds, by Adam Donald, an examination of the psyches of two individuals with differing experiences; A Dream (His)Story, in which Marc Greene experiments in unpacking, re-stacking and sacrificing narrative expression and surrealist digression; Triangle, by Jeon-Seok Park, a film that that plays with time sequence and shifting perspective revolving around a romantic trio; and Cervera, the story of Xavier Morrades’ rediscovery of his native village in the heart of Catalunya, Spain.
