Areas of expertise of particular interest to the committee are animation (2- and 3-dimensional) and interactive design. Other specializations of interest might include information visualization, game design and mobile media design. The starting salary for this position will be $53-58,000 per year plus a full benefits package, including location stipend.
Our ideal candidate will be comfortable working and thinking across disciplines, having interests and experience that extend beyond his or her specialty, and encompass broader approaches to art practice and human knowledge. Successful candidates will demonstrate their commitment to student learning, success, and liberal education.
Teaching responsibilities will include courses that are a combination of foundation classes and upper-level electives tailored to the successful candidate's area of specialization. Other duties may include mentoring upper-level undergraduate and graduate students, and interacting with the Neuberger Museum of Art. Responsibilities will also include academic advising and community service (which encompasses committee work as well as College, School, and Board of Study governance).
Founded on the principle that artists and scholars are indispensable to each other and to an enlightened society, Purchase College combines professional conservatory programs in the visual and performing arts and distinguished programs in the liberal arts and sciences.
