Hello Marymack, G2K is also related to Fluxus and Situationism, as you can
see in the following page about the Eternal Network at
www.uiowa.edu/uima/network.html

I'm real interested in that type of stuff, which is not really gallery/museum
stuff. Is mmuttt correct that AF is just a trade mag? Wow. That's not so
special.

Is it OK if I talk about the Eternal Network instead of my own junk, is that
clear objective discussion not self-promotion?

The Eternal Network is more the proper direction, imao, than the Guggenheim
building boom say or even Yoko's YES. The values or goals of the Eternal
Network ought to be rethought and worked into what artists and writers do
today. Perhaps no one, much less me, has a right to such an opinion.

Net artists, on behalf of all of whom I speak, are closer to the vital now or
"jetztzenzeitenzee" (as Benjamin wrote so eloquently) than the brokers and
courtiers of the gallery system. Imao.

I find the EN to be a very important topic or inspiration or whatever, and I
like to discuss it and things like it. It's possibly an ethical imperative,
one could argue, having to do with how artists and writers can help the world
as we launch into the permawar on terror and other major crises of
civilization and the planet. Even mmuttt calls for a place to escape to,
however there is never rest for the wicked.

I'm looking at these boxes on the right, Serpentine Gallery, Ronald Feldman
Fine Arts, Victoria Miro Gallery, who presumably make AF go, and I wonder if
they have any interest in the Eternal Network of Brecht and Maciunas. Logic
would say no they don't, because the EN was against these very kinds of
places since day one. Would Inova or Kent do a show of EN stuff? Everything's
recuperable I suppose and perhaps you could get a Maciunas there, but how
does the artistic spirit or methods of the EN jibe with Yancey Richardson or
Matthew Marks?

I was also thinking Marymack about the categorical imperative. I personally
would not be offended at all if say BPrevidi started posting all about his
new art-theory, call it "Happygreen." He could rave on and on about how
"Happygreen" does this and relates to that, and I would not be offended or
see it as rude. Even if he posted often, and changed the subject to
Happygreen insofar as he was able, how could I take offense? "You rude swine
with your Happygreen balderdash, taste the nape of my walking stick."

In fact, viz. the admiration of appetite, I like it when people are not
faux-self-effacing. I would enjoy Kubrick's posts more if he had a simpler
personalized philosophy or art-name, say "French Toast Art History" in which
he would couch his posts in FTAH-speak rather than omniacademic.

I think you used the word "egregious" incorrectly as well.

Another exonerant: 1000 Words, an article here in our very mag, makes much
greater sense as an artwork if we compare it to the Eternal Network than to
Constable. I like Constable, he could really paint a dog with one dot, the
sketches and so.

Sincerely,

David Williams

Run with it Bprev and I will run with you while we run from maxherman. You
know max, it wouldn't be a bad idea for you to go away for awhile, come back
and check in from time to time to see if we've all but forgotten you and the
bad old days where every thread had you you you in it! I am only suggesting
politely here, otherwise I would just tell you to fuck off too. Yeah, I am
mildly irritated, you are getting to be the playground bully pretending you
are victimized and picked on when really, you are a pain in the ass. Now for
the Love of God, do not send me NN crap to infiltrate my pc life, I am way
bigger, stronger and far more creative than that flat as glass cyberette, you
won't know who you are messing with. How's that for tough love? susanh
