Sequence Series: Turn Move Change

Open Call
Sequence Series: Turn Move Change
A month-an-a-half dedicated to quick-fire residencies, specifically for practitioners working in/with sound.

As the nights draw in and there's a definite nip to the air SoundFjord keeps the summer momentum alive by introducing to their Educational Programme six quick-fire residencies (of one week) for practitioners working in/with sound (including - but not restricted to - sound art, radio, writing, etc.), starting 05 November 2012.

The residency is completely open to artists’ projects. There is no theme to restrict ideas or output. The directors at SoundFjord (Helen Frosi and Andrew Riley) will engage with the artist throughout the residency, offering support where necessary.

Successful artists receive a live-work space1 for one week (Monday to Sunday2) to utilise for research and experimentation purposes. No exhibition projects will be accepted. Basic sound equipment3 will be supplied. All other necessary equipment must be supplied by the artist.

Based in the lively area of Seven Sisters (North London), SoundFjord’s residency is located within the creative complex of studios and live/work units that is Studio 28. The studio is situated at ground floor level with front access to the space, featuring security shutters for the safe storage of works/equipment.

Once the residency commences artists have 24-hour access to the studio. Artists should be aware that the studio is based within a residential compound and so should be respectful to others with regard to sound after 10pm.

Artists should find their own way to the gallery (unfortunately we cannot provide an artist fee or reimburse travel expenses). However accommodation, should it be required, is provided for - the space is a live-work unit.4 We are happy to assist those seeking external funding and can supply official letters of invitation and other letters of support where needed.5

Dates for residencies: Residency One: 05-11 November; Residency Two: 12-18 November; Residency Three: 19-25 November; Residency Four: 26 Nov - 02 Dec; Residency Five: 03-09 December; Residency Six: 10-16 December.

N.B Drawings, photography, film/video and sound pieces may be sent within the same email to a max size of 10MB.
