Art (Sculpture). The Department of Sound, Performance, and Visual Inquiry seeks a sculptor to join our small, dynamic, interdisciplinary arts program. We bring art, music, and theatre together under one roof, and strive to foster dialogue and collaboration between the artistic disciplines, as well as across campus. The successful candidate for this position will be deeply committed to teaching majors and non-majors in a public liberal arts setting. We are especially interested in artists whose work pushes beyond the traditional boundaries of sculpture into the realms of robotics, sound, performance, or other new technologies. In addition to sculpture classes at all levels, the artist will have the opportunity to develop new courses in his or her area of focus; we especially encourage candidates with interdisciplinary and collaborative teaching interests. Responsibilities include oversight of the sculpture studio and woodshop, including training of student workers. Candidates should have a record of significant artistic accomplishment in contemporary practice. MFA and evidence of excellence in college teaching required.
