Looking for Tape Geeks.
I am curating a show in Chicago on August 12 at the Chicago Art Department the theme of which is "Tape:  A Celebration of Magnetic Analog"
This is a multi-discipline show with photographers, painters, sculptors, video artists, and audio artists.
I am looking to fill some gaps in the lineup - Searching for audio or video artists who create work that specifically uses the tape process. For audio an example would be the use of loops or reel to reel, or tweaking cassettes even. For video that may be using analog video specific processes to create abstractions or remixes.
The deadline for concept submissions is July 25. Two audio and two video artists will be selected.
Install is August 8.
Opening is August 12 (upwards or 500 guests expected).
The show will be up for 1 week of appointment only viewings and we will have a soft closing on August 19.
We may also have one or two tape DJing slots available for the evening if you would like to submit an idea or mix.
Visual artists who create work with a tape theme may also submit work for consideration.
