CALL for Proposals « Wellington Lux 2011

On 8, 9 and 10 July 2011, the international Wellington LUX symposium will be held at the College of Creative Arts, Massey University, Wellington, New Zealand. The symposium is hosted by WATT, a CoCA research cluster in partnership with Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO).

Wellington LUX (lux.org.nz) will bring together prominent national/international artists and designers using light and technology in the creation of immersive/dynamic physical spaces and objects during an intensive three days of presentations, lectures and exhibitions. The event will feature a broad range of outstanding nationally and internationally recognized keynote speakers, including:

Proposals are sought for the presentation and/or exhibition of quality creative works in the form of objects, installations and performative works, due by 8 May (NZ time). Proposals should include the following:

1) A one page word document with your name, full contact details, title of work, brief summary of the creative work (500 words max) and a short bio that outlines your area of expertise and your most recent creative accomplishments. If appropriate, you may choose to include links to relevant websites.

For the sake of the peer-review process, please eliminate any elements that would identify you as the author from the following proposal items:

2) An outline or description of the creative work you propose to contribute and the specifications necessary to include it in the exhibition (area, quality/size of space, site-specific, type of equipment, materials and/or props, mode of installation, type of projection surface, level of darkness, sound, technical assistance, for example);

3) A collection of images of recent creative works relevant to the symposium topic in a single PDF document (5MB max). If you already have images of the work you are proposing, include them.Please submit high resolution images, and include any copyright information, as we will assume that submitted images of successful applications can be used in printed and online Wellington Lux material.
