The Pennsylvania State University Stuckeman School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture

The Department of Architecture at The Pennsylvania State University announces an opening for a tenure-track position at a rank commensurate with experience, with the appointment beginning in the 2012 fall semester.

The candidate will teach in the accredited Bachelor of Architecture and the Master of Architecture program and will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the Department, the Stuckeman School, the College of Arts and Architecture, and the University. The candidate should have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, research and/or creative practice that integrates architecture and design computing. The successful candidate is expected to integrate digital design throughout the architectural curriculum, such as design studio with a digital emphasis, as well as lecture and seminar courses in digital design and building fabrication. The candidate will bring intellectual leadership to this area of design and help expand existing digital curricula.

A demonstrated interest in inter- and cross-disciplinary collaboration in teaching and research within the College and University is desired. The appointee will be expected to pursue a clear research, creative/scholarly, or professional agenda, as well as contribute to the University and the professional communities. A terminal degree in architecture or a related field is required. Professional experience, architectural licensure and/or a Ph.D. are preferred. • a brief statement of teaching philosophy and methods;
• a brief statement of research and creative/professional interests and agenda;
• curriculum vitae;

• an abbreviated portfolio (not to exceed 10 pages) that includes selected samples of teaching, creative accomplishments, research, and professional practice projects. A more thorough and complete portfolio may be requested of selected finalists.
