Using a 1970 summer research grant allowed me the use of a Scanning Electron Microscope from the University of Iowa (Iowa City) US. Various audio and video devices monitored the scans, and the aim was to listen and to see various tvarious outcomes of both in realtime. The submitted samples to the vacuum chamber, after each was coated in a mist of gold included, besides the Maple leaf a cicadia shell, dandruff, stainless steel wire recording wire and globs of white glue on a twig. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Crewe
