2015 BAU SUMMER RESIDENCY FOR ARTS AND CULTURE—
OTRANTO, ITALY
The Summer Residency for Arts and Culture in Otranto, Italy provides visual, literary and other creative artists, the time and the space to create new work. This singular cultural opportunity in an ancient urban setting is a haven for creative rejuvenation and intensive focus. One month or two week periods are offered in June for up to 12 residents at a time.

RESIDENCY DATES AND FEES
Application Fee $25
One month stay: 2900 € June 1–30
Two week stay: 1500 € June 1–15 or June 15–30
Two week stay for an artist couple is 2500 €

A non-refundable deposit of 500 € is due within 15 days of acceptance to secure your place. This is applied to the total residency fee.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES
Fellows live in two-bedroom/ two-bathroom apartments within the walled city by the sea. Artists work in studios in the Aragonese Castle of Otranto with its panoramic terraces. Guided excursions to cultural sites and antiquities are included. Welcoming and closing group dinners are offered for each session. An orientation tour with an information packet and introduction to local resources is provided. A final open studio event is arranged at the end of each session. Additionally, residents are encouraged to share their work at an informal gathering. All group activities are always optional. A small staff is available for housing, coordination of arrivals and departures, translation, and studio needs. The BAU Institute Residency Director will be on site.

ELIGIBILITY
BAU Institute welcomes international applicants at all career levels. The residency supports the development of work in the Visual Arts, Writing, Time-based media, Performance, and all creative disciplines. The residency may accommodate up to 12 people at a time. Selections are determined by a panel of arts professionals. No current full-time students may apply except for advanced PhD candidates.
