Ana Black is a multidisciplinary artist working in new media, performance, video and photography. Born in Vancouver, Canada, she works between New York and Vancouver. Ana Black Studied at the University of British Columbia, the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts, Paris, France and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design Graduate Program where she received highest honors and the TC Colley Award for Excellence. Black was a fellow at the Photography Institute at Columbia University, New York, were a jury comprising of noted art critics, curators and artists selects the top new photo-based artists to participate in an intensive program. Ana Black's work has been exhibited and published internationally. Her work has been archived at the Getty Research Institute at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles and she has also been the recipient of several national and international awards including a VADA Award from the Vancouver Foundation through the Contemporary Art Gallery and a Canada Council Grant.
