Do Not Research Book Launch

New Museum Skyroom
Celebrate the launch of a new book by Do Not Research, an online community and platform founded by artist Josh Citarella in 2020. Described as a “detestable band of washed up millennial seapunks” (Lolcow) and “zoomers obsessed with Mark Fisher” (Buzzfeed), Do Not Research grew out of Citarella’s long-term research on Gen Z political formations and the internet. The project now features a highly active blog for writing, visual art, internet culture, research and more, launched in 2020.

Do Not Research: 2021 - 2022 reproduces content from this blog: 143 posts by 110 contributors in the past 11 months. Selected posts will be reproduced once again—in spoken form—during the event, which will include readings by a number of contributors. The event will also include a conversation between Citarella and members of DIS, who will discuss what it means to translate an artist project to institutional modes of practice. DIS is an artist collective founded in 2010 that published DIS Magazine for a number of years alongside a raft of artistic and curatorial endeavors, before launching the streaming platform Dis.art in 2018.
