If you're at ISEA next week and observe a gathering of women laughing loudly over tea and sushi, you may have come face to face with ... Faces. The Faces mailing list began, appropriately, during a dinner party in Vienna back in 1996, to fill a void for women in media arts. As well as a vibrant online forum, the Faces site has links to members' projects, texts and resources. Donna Harraway, Sadie Plant, Francesca di Rimini, Josephine Bosma and Simone de Beauvoir are some of the names to be found among the Faces. Faces provides a platform to address gender issues in media and arts and also creates pleasant networking opportunities over tea and sushi. - Helen Varley Jamieson
