I wanted to announce that I'm migrating my web project Art for Humans & AFH Gallery & the MySpace FRIEND COLLECTIVE (etc.) to a brick n mortar venue in LA's Chinatown for 4.5 months (Mid-May thru Sept). I want to extend an invitation to Rhizome & the Rhizome community to submit proposals for installations/performance/screenings… I will be posting prospectus/concept paper/artist terms in my blogs in the next few days/weeks, but wished to give the Rhizomers an early start. ART FOR HUMANS GALLERY OPENS IN CHINATOWN
ART FOR HUMANS GALLERY will present multimedia, multi-disciplinary contemporary art exhibitions by international, national and local artists in a new art space at 945 Chung King Road in Chinatown (LOS ANGELES). Featured artists, like Curtis Stage, Glenn Goldberg, Erin O’Hara, and Joe Hiscott will display high quality contemporary art in New and Traditional Media in installations, solo and curated group or collective exhibitions. Lead Artist Paul McLean will direct ART FOR HUMANS GALLERY, in conjunction with accomplished practitioners from diverse creative backgrounds. The project will occur in the Chinatown venue and online at artforhumans.com, myspace.com/artforhumans and other AFH-connected websites.
The gallery will officially open Friday, June 1. Exhibit programming will continue through September 29. Gallery hours, beginning May 18, will be Wednesday-Saturday 12-6 PM, with additional presentations, including opening receptions, screenings, performances, demonstrations and art talks to be announced.
The gallery will conduct informal exhibitions from Friday, May 18 through Wednesday, May 30.
