Loop Art Critique Open Call for Experimental Online Residency

  • Location: Onland.io Campus will be open in November to selected artists. It will be open to public mid-November.
  • Deadline: Oct 30 2022 at 2:10PM
Loop Art Critique is an experimental 2 week residency program conducted entirely on a metaverse campus in Onland. Onland.io was developed by The MUD Foundation, a Miami based non-profit that focuses on artists using technology. MUD is an artist-developed and artist-run web3 space.

Loop AC is a project by Ariel Baron-Robbins, an artist exhibiting with MUD during their WASD Exhibition that opens on Nov. 30th during Art Basel Miami Beach.

Critical is the selection of artists and their commitment to the critique period. An honorarium of $100 each will be given to each artist for their participation.

Critiques will be held in a private building (The Critique Club) on the Loop campus. Live critiques will happen 3 times a week for two weeks. A private Discord channel will also be set up for group discussions.

Salon des Refuses
Afterwards, artists will jury work to hang in a public building called The Salon. A third public building on campus, called The Salon des Refuses will be open for artists to exhibit any work they choose during the period of critique and Salon exhibition.

The exhibition will stay up for the entire month of December with a reception in late November that coincides with The MUD Foundation’s Annual Show titled WASD. Artists can attend in person in Miami or in Onland.

Key components to consider:
Live meetings will happen 3 times a week for two weeks. A schedule will be posted in the critique club. Exact times will be hammered out with the group.
Critiques are held in The Critique Club and artists will login using a Metamask account. There is no cost to logging in. This is for security only.
Artists can also leave work for written feedback during these two weeks.
Artists are encouraged to use feedback to change work and re-upload for further critique.
Sketches and works in progress are encouraged as well as recently “completed” work.
The month-long exhibition is accessible to the public and will be promoted through Loop and The MUD Foundation’s WASD exhibition. 100% of proceeds of art sold during the exhibition goes to the artist.
