It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2022. This position is located on the Pullman, WA campus.
The Digital Technology and Culture (DTC) program is an interdisciplinary program within the College of Arts and Sciences emphasizing humanistic understandings of technology, publicly engaged research, and creative production emphasizing social justice, anti-racist pedagogies, and decolonial methodologies. DTC faculty combine creative production and critical inquiry with an emphasis on community engagement in various formats. The DTC program is a growing unit with several undergraduate tracks and a graduate certificate. Students in any track in the program receive instruction on engaged practice and critical approaches to a wide breath of theory, technology, and media.
We are especially interested in candidates using digital technologies, computational methods and creative practices that cross disciplines and that explicitly examine issues related to systemic racism and structural inequities in many forms and modalities including critical play. The program values creative, collaborative, and publicly engaged scholarship that places an emphasis on explicitly anti-racist pedagogies, practices, and production in teaching, research, service, and scholarship that work to advance racial justice, reconciliation, and repair. The faculty member in this position will also be expected to assist in the refinement and expansion of the DTC program.
The DTC program offers the B.A., as well as a graduate certificate in Digital Culture and Humanities.
The successful applicant will teach A 2:2 load including undergraduate courses within their area of expertise, courses in the Game Studies track for DTC majors and students from across campus in the undergraduate Game Studies and Design certificate. For more information see: dtc.wsu.edu
