ADJACENT (adjacent.press) is the online journal of emerging media published by New York University’s Interactive Telecommunications Program, or ITP.

For issue 8 "DISEMBODY // ANTIBODY" we are seeking thought-provoking essays, research, commentary, and work relating to current discourse around emerging technologies on the themes of:

post-touch, post-intimacy, bed posts in the zoom background
dehumanized data, quantified self, taxonomized identities
invisible labor, shadowbans, deleted histories
face2face, peer2peer, voice boxes, listening devices
machine yearning, phoning home
guillotines, coup d’etats, remote control and sovereignty
decentralized knowledge and spore networks
god tricks, hyrdas, medusas, and cycloptic vision
illusions, deepfakes, the war on sense-making
motion capture, movement tracking, contact tracing
spit tests and smell tests
astral projection, lucid dreams, mind uploading
exquisite corpses and crude avatars
