Liminal Pavilion @ Bangkok Biennial 2020

  • Location: Bangkok, Thailand
  • Deadline: Jul 24 2020 at 11:07PM
Litote is delighted to announce our participation in Bangkok Biennial 2020, which will take place from October 16 until December 12.

Unlike traditional art festivals, the Bangkok Biennial aims to achieve a de-centering perspective and dismantling hierarchy. The festival consists of autonomous pavilions, each of which is "self-instigated and self-organized without oversight form, or being subject to the authority of a central body".

Using this radical platform as a curatorial opportunity, Litote will organize the Liminal Pavilion.

Since the recent world pandemic, liminality has entered our lives in the most abrupt and unexpected ways. What we used to think as limitless in terms of movements, possibilities, borders, and thoughts, are now being reassessed and redefined. The limits of yesterday are no more, and it is now time to uncover what we can do within the bounds of this new world. Meanings are emerging from seeing anew the ordinary, which in the end gives us a guideline for the time to come. So let’s put this liminal space at the center of all this, and let’s avoid the old world.

For the Liminal Pavilion, we are seeking for projects that push beyond dichotomous visions. All mediums and disciplines are welcome. However, as it is an experimental exhibition, selected artists must agree with the potential transformation of the final medium. For example, we might translate your painting piece into a printed vinyl depending on the exhibition space.

The deadline for submission is July 24th, 23:59 (EST).

Applications must be submitted either in English or French from the link below. We do NOT accept submission through email.
