After the stillness of winter, springtime in Central Ontario (Canada) awakens the ears to a suddenly active soundscape of birds, frogs and the drumming of the ruffed grouse. The first weekend of May at Warbler's Roost (22 KM west of South River) provides an exciting opportunity for media and sound artists of all levels to enjoy the acoustic wonders of the spring season while learning about the art of soundscape recording.

Events include a soundscape concert with guest artist by David Eagle, a “dawn chorus” multi-channel recording, lecture-demonstration on integrating interactive technology with soundscape recordings, and workshops on recording and editing soundscapes with NAISA Artistic Director Darren Copeland.

Practical Details:

- All levels of experience are welcome.
- Equipment available for those who require it. Those with recording equipment are welcome to bring their own.
- Dress for cold weather in evenings and early mornings as well as for some walking on muddy and wet surfaces.
- Accommodation available at Warbler's Roost includes two kitchens for guests to share. Breakfast, bedding and towels provided.

7:00 to 9:00 pm - Transformation & Gesture, Concert by David Eagle with cellist Jordan Wyshniowsky

Sunday May 3
6:00 am to 7:00 am - Dawn Chorus Recording at Warbler's Roost
10:00 am to 1:00 pm - Multi-channel Soundscape Editing & Mixing at NAISA North
