iPhone therefore ... nevermind

Dear Mr. Jobs,

Its the developers stupid!

In a recent interview with the NYT (links follow) you mentioned that
no third party development for the iPhone would be allowed … your
reasoning being that you don't want the developers to screw up
Cingular's phone network (I am paraphrasing but this is the jist).
This is pretty lame. Let's be honest, this is not a QC issue, you
want to control the software revenue (video, ring tones, music,
games, applications, etc…)

Of course you are entitled but the way this is bound to play out is
some other cool device with a different OS sporting the same features
will spring up - except it will be open to third party development
and someone from outside Apple's brain trust will create a killer app
for it instead and so on. Kind of like what happened in the early
90's - remember?

This is as absurd as only selling music on iTunes created by Apple
employees.

Please think different!
