Assistant Professor of Digital Communication/New Media

The School of Communication at Northern Arizona University is seeking an innovative and creative assistant professor that possesses the technological skills and conceptual imagination to foster technological integration among our 8 academic programs. We have an immediate need for an individual who will help us to implement new media practices, convergence, and integration. This faculty member will facilitate digital media practices among our journalism, electronic media, and photography programs. This person will provide leadership in the curricular and practical development of media convergence for our student newspaper, radio station and television programs. In addition, this new faculty member would help foster a broader sense of integrated media practices and theoretical approaches to new media and multimedia production among our advertising, public relations, visual communication, speech communication and merchandising programs. The successful candidate would develop new courses in New and Digital Media Studies and Production, and contribute to the teaching of existing courses in various programs. This is a wonderful opportunity for a person who has the vision and skills to develop and offer guidance on a new direction of study and practice in our School. The proposed workload includes three courses per semester; advising and mentoring; research/creative activity; and service to the school university and discipline. The position begins in August 2008.
