This class is part one of an intensive series of etching classes with artist Kazuko Watanabe that will provide extensive instruction in etching techniques. The first class, Etching 1, will introduce participants to basic intaglio techniques using a range of traditional, contemporary, and new methods. Participants will be led through a series of exercises in various etching techniques, and will also be introduced to various papers, and printing methods.

Kazuko Watanabe has worked in print media for over twenty years. She has researched and developed three-dimensional prints, print sculpture, the use of intaglio in artist's books and the combination of traditional print media with computer techniques. In 1999, she received the Library Fellows Award from the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. In 2001, her work was selected for the "Print National" exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, New York. http://www.kazwat.com/
