Learn the techniques used for encaustic painting, a process that uses beeswax to carry pigment. Incorporate your own collage, found objects, or photo imagery, and complete your own masterpiece. Safety and shop practices, tools and their use, priming techniques, and a variety of paint application processes will be covered. No prior experience with encaustic is required. Enrollment is limited to 15 students.

Hylla Evans is a paint maker for Evans Encaustics, teaches painting extensively in the Bay Area, New York, and Amsterdam, and for for all six years has been an expert presenter at the International Encaustic Conference in Massachusetts. She has developed new paints and grounds for encaustic painting and encourages each artist to experiment with the boundaries of this exciting medium.
