Full Time - Academic - Assistant Professor - Photo/Digital

The University of Houston School of Art invites applicants for an Assistant Professor tenure track position in the Photography/Digital Media program to begin the Fall, 2008. While this position will stress expertise in the chemical, or "wet" processes, competence in digital processes (capture, manipulation and printing) is also a requirement. We are searching for someone with mastery of B&W and color processes who will teach photography that is a social and/or poetic statement. Applicants should have a thorough knowledge of the history and theory of photography. Administration of lab facilities is a component of the position. The ideal candidate will be an active artist, someone who can teach a wide range of processes to students in the undergraduate program, and who also can provide intellectual leadership and vision in the development and coordination of a vibrant interdisciplinary graduate program.

An MFA and two years teaching experience are required. Candidates must have a substantial record of accomplishment in the field, as demonstrated by gallery and museum exhibitions, publications and other activities.

o Video should be in a folder labeled “(YourLastName)Video”. Videos should be less than 2 minutes each and be in QuickTime format, viewable by Macintosh.
