Adjunct Instructor for “AAV-255/Web 1”
Part-time, Fall 2013

The Art and Art History Department at The College of New Jersey seeks Adjunct Faculty to teach “AAV-255/Web 1” for the fall 2013 semester. Web 1 is an introductory course to web production and design. The course will begin by covering the use and function of HTML and CSS. There will be technical lectures and demonstrations presenting the various hardware and software technologies used for web production. The technical presentations will be accompanied by instruction on web design standards as well as analysis of a variety of design approaches. Web 1 is a required junior level course for students in the graphic design concentration, it is also open to all visual arts majors. Two sections are available. The first section meets on Mondays from 3:30pm to 9:20pm with a break between 4:50am to 5:30pm; the second section meets on Thursday from 8am to 1:50pm with a lunch break between 11:50am to 12:30pm. The class starts in the last week of August.

Requirements:
Applicants with a MFA in graphic design or digital media are preferred, but those who hold a BFA from an accredited institution with substantial professional practice and previous teaching experience will be considered on the basis of a review of their work. A successful candidate should have a body of work that is content oriented and demonstrates an understanding of solid design principles and visual aesthetics with a critical understanding of user experience. Expertise in HTML, CSS, and other graphic software applications relevant to web design discipline, such as, Adobe Creative Suite, iOS, client and server scripting are also required.
