The College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) at UNC Charlotte is excited to announce the formation of an Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program. Applicants are sought for the inaugural 10-week residency position to begin September 2013. A public exhibition is planned for the end of the program.The resident will have access to researchers designing and applying novel interactive technology, large screen visualization technology, highly interactive robotics technology in addition to innovative research in design, privacy and security, complex adaptive systems, and visual analytics for big data. This position is particularly suited to artists specializing in new media, and/or the profound impact that computing research will have on our future. The successful applicant will be provided with access to leading computing and informatics professors and researchers as well as the College’s various research labs and technologies. Available technology includes Microsoft PixelSense and other multi-touch displays, Siftable tangible computers, 3D printers, multi-touch tablets, Sphero and other robots, security and privacy applications, and big data analytics and visualization techniques.

Applicants who value collaboration, seek to establish creative partnerships across disciplines, and have an interest in bridging the gap between university computing research and art are strongly encouraged. Applicants are sought in all phases of their artistic careers. For full consideration, applications are due before July 15.
