The Contemporary Artists Center at Woodside in Troy, NY is looking for a dynamic individual to manage our national and international artist residency program and attend to the needs of the artists in residence.

This is a live-in position. Start date is in mid-March, but this is somewhat flexible.

The mission of the CAC is to present and procure artists who want to produce, explore, test new concepts, and expand the current debates and ideas in today’s art and culture. Through artists’ residencies, art studios, exhibitions, and performances, the CAC seeks to promote the creation and appreciation of contemporary art. The CAC is committed to creative dialogue and community engagement while encouraging sustainable practices.

The Residency Manager position assists residency artists in both their studio and non-studio needs to create and maintain a professional atmosphere conducive to productivity and creativity within the residential community.

Duties include:

*coordinating artist arrival and residency stay
*orienting artists to Woodside
*assisting with tools, materials & scheduling critiques
*providing day-to-day attention to artists during their residency
*keeping facility maintained and in order
*providing general hospitality services as needed
*documenting artists while in residence


Requirements: Position requires excellent communication skills, superior interpersonal and organizational skills, and a deep commitment to contemporary art, and the value of the creative process.

We have a small office where we all pitch in. Like everyone else, the Residency Manager will perform a variety of functions as needed. General knowledge of multiple art mediums, methods and tools required. New media a plus. Car is essential. Must be patient and attentive.

Position is part-time 20-25 hours per week and includes housing and a $100/week stipend.
