GO ELSEWHERE 2013 | residencies, internships, fellowships, retreats

Elsewhere, a living museum set in a former thrift store in downtown Greensboro, NC, is now accepting applications for 2013 residencies. Visiting artists, musicians, curators, scholars, makers, storytellers, and educators utilize the museum’s immense 58-year collection of second-hand surplus for site-specific projects that interpret and contribute to Elsewhere’s concepts, collections, and communities.

Elsewhere’s three-story museum offers an evolving environment of living installations, public studios, and materials that provides an experimental context for investigating material culture, re-thinking process and practice, and developing new collaborative approaches. Elsewhere is an active participant in the vitalization of its emerging downtown neighborhood, and an exceptional place for rethinking things in everyday and extraordinary culture.

Individuals and collaborative teams working across media, fields, and disciplines are encouraged to apply. Residencies 2-6 weeks. Creative retreats, assistantships, and curatorial fellowships also available. Goelsewhere.org/residencies for more information.

2013 THEMES:
Neighborhood Storytelling, Restoration, Experimental South, Art + Civic Building

Applications are due January 4, 2013
Residencies are 2 - 6 weeks and all creatives are welcome to apply online.
Creatives are invited to live and work inside the Living Museum, which is amidst a growing downtown.

Elsewhere's residency fee is $500 and offers curatorial and documentary support, 24 hour museum access, online and on-site presentation of work, vast material resources and collaborative work environment to experiment and learn with continued opportunities through Elsewhere’s ETC alumni network.

An additional $50 p/week covers all Houspitality with shared residency rooms in the museum and participation in the Kitchen Commons, Elsewhere’s food cooperative. Houspitality also includes bike access and YMCA membership boasting shower, sauna, workout equipment, and free exercise classes.

Elsewhere is a rapidly growing, artist-run, non-profit contemporary art organization, with an extraordinarily level of community involvement. It is also the only museum and residency set in a former thrift store. Elsewhere is seeking extraordinary, talented leaders for Curatorial and fellowship positions. Join an inspired team to produce 50 artist residencies, community programming, projects across media, absurd parties, and often awesome lectures and events. Part art, part admin, part whatever-is necessary aboard an experimental ship. Elsewhere is an exceptional context for connecting art in everything.
