The Download is a new program through which Rhizome shares one work per month with our membership for free download. Part curatorial platform, part incentive to budding digital art collectors, the Download highlights great new works and encourages members to display them at home-on any screen, computer, or suitable device. Participating artists are compensated through the Artist Fund, a pool of financial support that is divided evenly among them. Anyone who makes a contribution through the Rhizome website is invited to consider giving to the Artist Fund.

I want to donate to the Artists Fund! How do I do that?
When you become a member or renew your membership, or just decide to give a random, generous donation, you will be invited to add a percentage of your contribution to the Artist Fund.
What does the Download do for members?
The Download introduces members to important, timely new works of digital art. It also encourages members to become collectors of their work by downloading and installing them on any computer, screen or suitable device.
What is the Artists Fund?
The Artist Fund was establish as a way to compensate artists for their participation. At the end of each year, this pool of support will be divided evenly among all 12 artists.
Why is the Artists Fund important?
Rhizome believes in compensating artists, whether through grants or giving stipends for participation in events or exhibitions. The Artist Fund is a model we came up with that directly connects the audience with the artists. It is an experimental model for supporting the exhibition and collection of digital art.
