Yvette Mattern is a video artist and filmmaker whose work intersects the disciplines of performance, cinema and avant garde opera. Yvette recently completed artist residencies at the BALTIC Center for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, 2005/2006 England and the Centre for Contemporary Art at Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, Poland, 2007/2008 where she will present her Rainbow Project in Spring 2009.. 2008 group exhibitions include, 'Cinema Remixed and Reloaded', Spelman Museum of Art, Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, ‘Black Light/White Noise’ at the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston. Recent group shows include: “Equatorial Rhythms” at the Sternersen Museum, Oslo, Norway, and “You won’t feel a thing” at WYSPA, Poland and Kunsthaus, Dresden. VideoROM, 1st Valencia Biennale, MACRO, Rome, Italy and GAMEC, Milano. Her workhas been exhibited, screened, or performed at the ZKM Medien Theater, Karlsruhe, White Box, N.Y., Munich Festival for New Music, Riga National Opera House, Hebbel Theater, Berlin, Burofriedrich, Berlin, Anthology Film Archives, the Kitchen, PS 122, The American Place Theater, Court Theater, Chicago, the ICA Boston, Smart Project Space, Amsterdam, the Performing Garage and the Berlin Film Festival. She was an assistant editor for Cindy Sherman’s film ‘Office Killer.’ She has also worked with Nicolas Cage and Al Pacino. She is included in the ‘Unpacking Europe’ catalogue curated by Salah Hassan. She served as the film/video/new media Juror for Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart Germany 2001/2002. She lives
between New York and Berlin, Germany and most recently, Warsaw, Poland.
