Tom Schofield is an artist and researcher whose work is engaged with the intersection of art, interaction design, politics and technology. His Ph.d centres around the particular kinds of agency which may be assumed by artists who intervene in the process of encoding and representing data in the form of images, statistics or interfaces.

After studying Fine Art in the UK (Reading) and France (Dijon) as an undergraduate he lived abroad in Japan, and Nepal where he was Artist in Residence at Kathmandu University in 2006.

Returning to the UK he studied an MFA in Newcastle University and is now studying for a Ph.D in Digital Media in Culture Lab, also part of Newcastle University. In his spare time he surfs and avoids computers.
