Esteban García

I am a new media artist and researcher. I earned a BFA in Time-Based and Electronic Media (2003) from Los Andes University in Bogotá, Colombia and an MFA in Electronic and Time Based Media (2008) from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. I am currently a PhD Candidate in computer graphics at Purdue. My research exploring the work of the computer artist Aldo Giorgini was recently featured at the SIGGRAPH 2011 conference and published in the Leonardo Journal.
Native of Bogotá, Colombia, I moved to the United States after to pursue an MFA. My artwork has been recognized internationally based on the participation on artistic workshops, residencies (Colombia and Venezuela), curated art shows including: KM0 Urbano in Bolivia, Testigos in México city, Salón Nacional de Artistas 2008 in Colombia and Strangely Funny at Mass Art in Boston. My work as a VJ performer have allowed me to participate on multiple venues across the map, including St. Louis, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Chicago, Paris, Rome, Bogotá and Medellín.
