Rosângela Ap was born in 1977, in São Paulo, Brazil. Bachelor of Visual Arts (2009), degree Teaching in Visual Arts (2010), Master of Arts in Visual Arts (2011-2013) by Art Institute of Unesp, São Paulo. CAPES Scholarship (2011-2013). She´s Graphical (1996-1999) and Interiors Designer (2001-2003) formed by ETEC Carlos de Campos. Since 1996, she participates regularly of exbihitions as artist. Some of his works are present in the collection of the Musée de l’Elisée (Lausanne, Switzerland), the Istituto Cultural Bertold Brecht (Milan, Italy), the Associazione Cultural Acquamarina (Trieste, Italy), the Grafisk Vaerkst (Naested, Denmark), the Brazilian Association of Artists of Collage (Sao Paulo, Brazil), as well appear in print and online catalogs. Member of the researches groups cat - science/Art/tecnology, IA-Unesp/CNPq (2009-) and GIIP - IA-Unesp/CNPq (2011-). Since 2011 she is member of ANPAP (National Association of Researchers in Arts). Currently she is Teacher of Basic Education - Arts in Education Department of the State of Sao Paulo, and Adjunct Professor at Universidade Paulista (UNIP), Sao Paulo. She learnes courses and lectures about art and technology for educational and cultural institutions.

The artist and researcher in arts Rosangela Ap invites artists, curators, promoters and others interested in Mobile Art, which developed its work with mobile phones, smartphones and iPhones, from 2001 to 2010 to contribute to the study 'Mobile Art: mapping, analysis and proposed classification of the poetic use of mobile phones'. The results will be incorporated into the body of Master of Arts thesis, which will be presented to the Graduate Program in Arts from the Art Institute of UNESP, between late 2012 and the first half of 2013. This research is supported with Scholarship CAPES (2011-2013).

Soft Borders - 4th Upgrade! International Network Conference and Festival

Soft Borders is the 4th Upgrade! International Network Conference and Festival, that will take place in São Paulo city, Brazil, from 18th to 21st/october/2010. The previous editions of the conference happened in New York (USA), Ocklahoma City (USA) and Skopje (Macedonia).

The conference will gather artists, curators and researchers from 30 countries to present and discuss the field of new media art, in the international and local contexts, especially in Brazil, the country that is hosting the present edition of the event. The call for participation is internationally open and the accepted formats are: papers, posters and workshops. Click on “Call for Participation” in the navigation menu to submit your work.

The new media festival that is also part of the Soft Borders evente will present artworks selected by two curators - a Brazilian and an Upgrade! International Network curator.

The Soft Borders theme, that drives either the conference and the art festival, aim to discuss the borders dissolutions between the many fields of the knowledge and life, the contamination of the one another, particularly regarding the relationship between art-science-technology.

Prof Dr Paulo Bernardino, da Universidade de Aveiro - Portugal.

Paulo Bernardino é doutor em estudos de arte e professor (diretor) do programa de pós-graduação em Criação Artística Contemporânea na Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal), no Departamento de Comunicação e Arte. Artista plástico, que desenvolveu a sua formação inicial na Escola Superior de Belas-Artes do Porto (Artes Plásticas: Escultura - 1991), indo depois complementar a sua formação com um Mestrado em Artes (Sculpture (M.A), - Royal College of Art, London, U.K. - 1995), concluindo a sua formação académica de regresso a Portugal (Doutoramento em Estudos de Arte na Universidade de Aveiro - 2006). Enquanto Artista começa por utilizar, como meio de expressão, técnicas mais tradicionais enquadradas pelas disciplinas do desenho e da escultura. Estando atualmente direcionado para os meios de produção tecnológicos, através da imagem, procura intersectar, na sua obra, a tecnologia digital como ponto de fusão - questionando o espaço da ação do observador através da interação. Procurando articular o seu campo de pesquisa entre a teoria e a prática, desenvolve o seu universo de investigação olhando para as imagens produzidas através das várias mediações tecnológicas (da pintura tradicional ao digital contemporâneo). Publicou: “Na Senda da Imagem: A Representação e a Tecnologia na Arte”; “Invocando o Arquivo”; “Imagem, tecnologia e arte”; “The Intersection of Technology In The Process of Image Creation; the Image, the Technology and the Art”. Faz parte do comité cientifico do ARTECH (International Conference on Digital and Electronic Art) desde 2006.

Paul Bernardino and a doctorate in art education and teacher (director) of the program of postgraduate studies in contemporary artistic creation at the University of Aveiro (Portugal), Department of Communication and Art. Plastic artist, who developed their initial training at the Academy of Fine Arts of Porto (Fine Arts: Sculpture - 1991), going after supplementing their training with a Master of Arts (Sculpture (MA) - Royal College of Art London, UK - 1995), concluding his education to return to Portugal (PhD in Art Studies at the University of Aveiro - 2006). While Artist begins to use as a means of expression, most traditional techniques framed by the disciplines of drawing and sculpture. Currently being directed to the means of production technology through the image, looking intersect in her work, digital technology as melting point - questioning the scope of action through the interaction of the observer. Trying to articulate his field research between theory and practice, develop your universe of research looking at the images produced by the various technological mediations (traditional painting to contemporary digital).
