Renate Ferro
Since 2007
Works in Ithaca, New York United States of America

Renate Ferro’s artistic practice engages critical interactivity incorporating emerging technologies, psychological and sociological structures and the body. Central to her practice is the translation of analog (print, super 8 film, television) technology into new digital media. Combining material with immaterial elements is key in most of her projects where the physical body is presented in the midst of the virtual.

Ferro is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Art at Cornell University. She received her MFA in new media from Cornell University in 2004. She also holds BA and MS degrees in Visual Art.

Her work is represented in both corporate and private collections across the United States as well as in Canada, France, Germany and Australia. Her work has been published in such journals as Diacritics, Theatre Journal, and Epoch. She is currently the art editor of the journal DIACRITICS published by the Johns Hopkins University Press and an organizing moderator for -empyre- the online list-serve.
