Call for Submissions: HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP) 2013

HERE has been one of New York’s most prolific producing organizations since 1993, and today, stands at the forefront of the city’s presenters of daring new hybrid art. We have a long history of supporting unique and innovative artists, ensuring them the opportunity to develop and perform original work as well as assist them in enhancing their skill in all areas of artistic work. Through the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP), artists are able to develop their work in a peer-based program designed to nurture new and unique work. Our community of mid-career resident artists meet monthly, show works-in-progress, develop workshop productions, and mount full-scale productions.

HERE is currently accepting applications to HARP which commissions and develops new hybrid works over a 1- to 3-year period. Our deadline is January 2, 2013.

HEREart Call for Entries

Deadline:
Mon Oct 01, 2012 12:00

Location:
New York, New York
United States of America

HERE has been one of New York’s more prolific arts organizations since 1993, and today, stands at the forefront of the city’s presenters of daring, new, hybrid art.
We are currently accepting submission for HEREart’s 2013 exhibitions. Our deadline is Monday, October 1st, 2012 at 12 noon.

For more info, please visit http://here.org/programs/here-art/

HEREart provides emerging and early career visual artists and curators the chance to exhibit work in an active, well-located multi-arts center. We feature 6-9 exhibitions each year that creatively work with our unique spaces, and engage audiences with artwork specially curated to function within a busy environment. This focus on interactive space naturally leads HEREart to function as the center of our community of artists.

HEREart’s location as an entryway to our theatres ensures a diverse and eclectic audience will experience the art. HEREart embraces its alter ego as a lobby for HERE’s performance spaces and encourages our artists to react and respond to this with their exhibits. HERE is a very appropriate place for today’s active and interactive visual art: art that often moves, makes noise, and physically engages the viewer. HEREart seeks to snag these passers-by and engage them in a dialogue with the space in which we move.

HEREart is invested in supporting artworks of all media and various content (painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, collage, media), but we concentrate on new work that in some way addresses the special conditions of our space.

Every exhibit at HERE is a site-specific installation that stretches our understanding of the words “art” and “performance,” creating a multi-layered experience for our patrons that sticks with them as they move from one space to the next.

HEREstay Curated Rental Program

Deadline:
Sun Mar 31, 2013 12:00

Location:
New York, New York
United States of America

Since 1993, HERE Arts Center has been one of New York’s most prolific producing organizations, and today, it stands at the forefront of the city’s presenters of daring new hybrid art. HERE supports multidisciplinary work that does not fit into a conventional programming agenda. Our aesthetic represents the independent, the innovative, and the experimental. HERE supports the work of artists at all stages in their careers through fully-produced works, commissions and subsidized performance and rehearsal space. In addition, HERE’s staff provides marketing, technical and administrative support. All work at HERE is curated based on the strength and uniqueness of the artist’s vision.

One of our most vital services, the HEREstay Program, supports 250 guest independent artists and groups—such as New Georges, Vampire Cowboys, and ViBe Theater Experience (an educational arts group for underserved urban teen girls)—and their audiences each season.

This creative curated rental program has allowed many upstart companies and emerging artists to realize their full artistic vision on a small budget. The program provides subsidized performance and rehearsal space, technical assistance, and administrative support, including a fully staffed box office. HEREstay artists can also access equipment that is not typically available in venues our size such as video projectors, wireless microphones, color scrollers—all for free or at subsidized rates. We accept applications from artists all over the world for the opportunity to show work.

For more information, and to fill out an online application, please visit the HEREstay website at: http://here.org/programs/here-stay/
