BIO
Patrick Lichty is a digital intermedia artist, writer, and independent curator of over 15 years whose work comments upon the impact of technology on society and how it shapes the perception of the world around us. He works in diverse technological media, including activism, printmaking, kinetics, video, generative music, and neon. He is Editor-in Chief of Intelligent Agent, an electronic arts/culture journal, part of the activist group The Yes Men, and operates IALA Gallery in Baton Rogue, Louisiana.
If this stuff isn't solved in four years...
Well, to some extent.
Anyone who is willing to send me information regarding immigration to
Canada, the EU/UK, the Balkans, New Zealand, Japan, Sri Lanka, India,
South America, etc. I'd be appreciative. I'm considering doing a net
piece that could use this information.
I'm here for at least two more years, probably four. But if there's
another Republican in office in 2008, then I want to go somewhere else.

Steve,
Are you planning to make art to effect change, or is it that you are
planning to just zone out for a while?

I know this was to Steve, but hey.
And the demonization statement is entirely true. Perhaps I can consider
myself "an" aenemy, but I'm sure I'll moderate a little, but I fear not
much.
I'm going to try to make cutting edge work to try to bring issues
forward, but I might have to crash for a few days.
Between my personal and public lives, I'm wondering what I have that
gives me satisfaction or pleasure besides IA and perhaps animating for
Yes Men.

fuck Bush and damn him to hell.
As soon as I recover from the migraine that had me in dry heaves all
night (seriously) that this election caused, and get out of the
ridiculous spot of depression associated with it that makes me just wan
to curl up in a ball and wither, I'm saying that this is WAR.
The NeoCons built this machine over the last 20 years, and the left just
watched it come and did NOTHING.
I'm a pacifist, but apart from that, conservatives and fundamentalists
can kiss my lily-white ass. I'll give them the compassion that I'll
give any human being, but ideologically, I'll be brandishing a rusty
sword and swinging it every chance I can.
I need something to live for.

It is pretty depressing to me. Other than Bill of Rights
stuff I am going to give up politics and do more Art or
something else. I mean I keep having the fantasy if I had
stayed in Ohio I could have changed things. Most likely people
in Franklin county would have thought I was crazy and unless
I somehow got a radio program I don't think I could have done
anything too much. Going around with my girlfriend to attract
attention and talk to people probably would not have worked.
I still regret I didn't do it as I stare forlornly at my OHIO
ID/DL ... Of course I am registered to vote in California and
felt pretty useless. This is the first time I just don't want to
watch C-SPAN in a long time.

Re: Please support Turbulence
Folks,
Regardless of appearance,
Except for a couple of us,
We're pretty much all near broke and need the cash.
I know I got a little aggressive with money lately with the movie coming
out and all. That's another story - none there, either.
I wish we could all get the support,
But to textually jump in front of another crosses the line a bit.
I hope that the discussion that's going on here is a reflection that
we're still committed to one another and while we're competitive for
what each of us can get, we're not being cutthroat about it.
Can we also think about how there are funding models that can benefit
larger numbers of us rather than individuals?
This is a real possibility for a good discussion, and can turn this
little ping into something positive.
Sorry to be so quiet; the new foray into academia has me blindly busy.
