Works in Berlin Germany

Producer and electronic music composer, Olivier Pasquet taught himself composition and later computer music while working in various recording studios. From 1996 to 1999, he studied composition in Cambridge, uk. Since, at Ircam and elsewhere, he works alone and collaborates with artists coming from various esthetic worlds (digital art, popular or contemporary music). He is also often involved in shows : danse, opera, theatre music and classical contemporary theatre. With 65 creations, he has worked with people like Georges Aperghis, Brice Pauset, Ludovic Lagarde, William Forsythe, Rand Steiger, Florian Hecker… He writes electronic music or IDM using his own concepts or algorithms. His pieces, shown in concert halls or museums around the world, are more and more focussed on physical forms allowing some kind of materialization. One of his research interests is composition for voiced or spoken text and “parametric” composition strongly linked with architectural design. He organized the first european Max/MSP/Jitter workshop Andreas Breitscheid and Manuel Poletti at FNM. He got the Villa Medicis, the Arcadi, a residency at Tokyo Wonder Site and Chile.

suspended engines / Emotional Traffic
Jean-Baptiste Barriere & Maurice Benayoun - some synthesis design by Olivier Pasquet.

The Internet is meant to be the world's nervous system. In Part 10 of “The Mechanics of Emotion” series of works, the artists will read the maps of world’s emotions gathered in real time from the Internet and considered as musical scores. In an experience of total collective manipulation together with the audience, they will play the emotions of the world live like musical instruments.
