BIO
Maya Ciarrocchi is a New York City-based video artist. Her work has been exhibited in New York at chashama, The Chocolate Factory, New York Live Arts, Westbeth Gallery and Sasha Wolf Gallery; regionally at Artisphere in Virginia and the Hammer Museum in California and internationally at Borderlines Film Festival in the UK and the Moving Pictures Festival in Toronto, Canada. In addition to her gallery installations she has created video and projections for dance and theatre with such performing artists as Merce Cunningham, Ping Chong, Bebe Miller, and Donna Uchizono among others, and for regional theaters throughout the country.
Ciarrocchi has completed residencies from the Kala Art Institute (CA), the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (NY) and the Ucross Foundation (WY). She is the recipient of both a Bessie (New York Dance & Theater Award) and a Jeff Award (Chicago Theater Awards) for projection design in performance and has received a NYC Film/Video grant from the Jerome Foundation.
Ciarrocchi earned a BFA in dance from SUNY Purchase and an MFA in computer art from the School of Visual Arts.
