Then in 1994 the computer entered my life.
The contradiction between limitation on the one hand, unlimited freedom and no physical borders on the other hand, created new impulses and insights to explore the possibilities of the medium. My fascination for this platform was born.
I have travelled a long way obtaining the necessary technical skills,studying and experiecing the do's and the don;ts, preparing and presenting concepts of visual artists for the web. It has now become the art form for myself to express and to tell my story.
The images, the words, the colours, the sounds, the motions, they're all ready there. It is like a palet with paint, a keyboard characters,covered with jpg., gif, wave, MP3,mov., doc. and other files. They're at my disposition and I will put them in a new, different context. They form the remains of my travels trough my mind, the virtual world, the real world and life.

New York-based artist Judi Harvest's work constantly looks to the illuminated cosmos for inspiration. Her upcoming September installation at Venice's famed Caffé Florian, Venetian Satellite, will be similar in form and aesthetic functionality to her Venice installation Luna Piena, a sped-up lunar calendar of 2,070 blown glass spheres that's on view at the Valaresso vaporetto stop through November 2006. (Pictured left.) Like Luna Piena, Venetian Satellite is crafted from stainless steel and Murano glass, but here the high-tech chandelier refers to one of humankind’s great additions to the solar system, the world’s first communications satellite, Telstar. These pieces seem to marry the structural spirits of Nam June Paik, the Arts and Crafts movement, and the architecture IM Pei. Part of Caffé Florian's bi-annual exhibition that coincides with Venice's Architecture Biennale, ‘Venetian Satellite’ will be in orbit from 6 September-31 December 2006.

Offers visitors the opportunity to experience technologies used in video games, the Internet, social software, and cell phones.Comprised of five separate pieces, this exhibit of interactive art offers visitors the opportunity to experience technologies used in video games, the Internet, social software, and cell phones—all of which will ultimately have an impact on television as we know it today.
Individual Piece Descriptions
(Collaborative Immersive Networked Environment, pronounced "sign")
Artists: James Tunick, Miro Kirov, and Houston Riley with Tony Rizzaro and Braden Weeks Earp
CINE 2.0 is a mixed-media environment inspired by Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Holodeck. Multiple users fly through an urban datascape in an immersive environment by using body gestures. Participants in the environment can also collaborate to compose music and, in addition, people out in the city itself can send photographs from their cell phones to be incorporated into the datascape environment.
CINE takes the computer screen out of the box and reconfigures it as a life-size environment. Control of visuals and sound takes place through full-body gestures rather than just mouse-clicks. As the traditional computer screen and mouse-keyboard interface transforms to fill the room, future entertainment platforms like CINE will enhance collaboration among multiple users, opening up whole new worlds of learning, art, creativity, and play. CINE is powered by a network of servers and computers that includes Studio IMC's BlackBox and IMCvote mobile technology.

Swarm paints a digital portrait of the viewer. Stationary viewers will see their portrait, while moving ones will produce an image more like an abstract painting.

loopScape, by Ryota Kuwakubo, is a game for 2 players with wireless controllers. It is a very classic shooting game. But instead of battling on a flat screen, you have to run around the cylindrical LED screen to follow your spaceship. Another consequence of having a 360Â° is that once your missile is fired, it will fly round and round until it hits something: hopefully it will hit your opponent's rocket but you might also get shot down by your own missile if the enemy manages to avoid it.

loopScape --together with Unreflective Mirror, by Masaki Fujihata, A-Volve by Sommerer/Mignonneau, FragMental by exonemo, and works by five other artists-- is part of the Art & Technology Zone, an exhibition area where one can investigate the dialogue between technology and art. The show opens on June 6 and runs until September 9, at ICC, Tokyo.
NTT is also hosting the lovely Kodama installation by Hisako Kroiden Yamakawa.

ENTER - EXPLORATIONS IN NEW TECHNOLOGY ART
is pleased to announce
that it will commission three media arts projects in 2006/07
for its festival Unknown Territories: Adventures in Space
in Cambridge (UK) between 25-29 April 2007.
We are looking for new work that engages with audiences regionally, nationally and/or globally. Although Cambridge is at the heart of the festival, the commissions should have a wider geographical and time-based spread.
Deadline for submissions is 1 June 2006.
