Kracht is a visual artist, working in video, illustration and animation. Educated in Germany, Spain and the UK, she lives and works in Barcelona. Her video-installations and live video performances have been exhibited in various festivals, art spaces and galleries around Europe. She works in collaborations with musicians, architects, dance companies, video artists and programmers.
Remixing images she explores tensions between time, space and place and humourously creates new connections, addressing a collective memory. She investigates the possibilities of lo-fi technologies within the scenic arts.
Recently, she created roomsized installations and projections for festivals and dance-theatre productions.
Campaña NEO - petition to a statement from the cultural institutions
La 18ª Edición del Festival NEO (Noves Escenes Obertes), antes Festival Internacional de Teatre Visual i de Titelles y mucho antes denominado FITT (Festival Internacional de Teatre de Titelles) debería haberse realizado en Noviembre del 2008. El festival nació en el 1973 y, de seguir en activo, sería el más antiguo de los dedicados al teatro de títeres y objetos del territorio español. Algunos de los artistas que han participado en sus últimas ediciones (la última Noviembre del 2006) no habían nacido por aquel entonces. Treinta y seis años. Su edad no es un valor en sí, simplemente da perspectiva y consistencia a una voluntad original de abrir un espacio a la creación, observación y estudio de las nuevas dramaturgias de este género en constante desarrollo. Y es ahí donde reside su valor, en haber sido testigo de una expansión que empieza con el teatro de títeres y objetos abarcando en cada edición nuevas manifestaciones (dramaturgias plásticas, de la imagen y nuevas tecnologías). Sus cambios de nombre no son más que un signo de esta constante redefinición. Una labor hecha a lo largo de los años gracias a la constancia, la ilusión y el empeño de individuos y entidades que ha convertido el festival en un referente internacional, lugar de encuentro e intercambio pero también implicado en la producción de nuevos espectáculos y la formación de un público cada vez más familiarizado con los nuevos lenguajes escénicos.
La última noticia sobre el festival fue una nota de prensa del 1 de diciembre del 2008* donde se hablaba que la próxima edición iba a ser primavera 2010. Como compañías, programadores y público en general nos dirigimos al destinatario de esta carta simplemente para preguntar: ¿qué ha ocurrido con el festival? ¿se celebrará? ¿cuándo? Creemos que han sido 36 años de trabajo y que todavía queda mucho por hacer y por construir. Cada año que pasa sin poder tomar el pulso a estas dramaturgias es una oportunidad perdida en favor del diálogo, un paso atrás en la profundización de un arte frágil y efímero ya, de por sí, bastante olvidado. Nos gustaría que no pasase a formar parte de las cosas que podrían haber estado, que no acabe siendo un recuerdo romántico.

Premiere: 30 de mayo 2008 at the Pinar de Antequera within Tac / Valladolid.
A+, Cosas que nunca te conté is a piece that uses the contemporary language of dance theatre. It combines elements of circus and video art to talk about nomadism in the 21st century.
It takes place in and around a caravan, a symbol of those that leave, a symbol of utopia, liberty and a symbol of transit of this "no man's land" between expulsion of ones' origins and an uncertain future. A caravan as a screen for projections, which submerge us into different levels of reality.
where to find grants for artist residency
i just have been invited to do a residency with workshop and final presentation in yogyakarta/indonesia. To realise the stay i need to find funding for the travel costs, since the indonesian media centre cannot provide us with the flights.
the trouble is, the residency starts in 3 weeks time! has anyone out here an idea where to find travel grants for artists in residence (our discipline is video art and performance with community based approach)? any ideas or experiences would be very much appreciated!
I am working with a colleague, we are both based in barcelona/spain. The big foundations and organisations have deadlines twice a year and are not relevant for this short term project.
So if you have heard of any funding that can be done after the project had been realised or have a open deadline scheme, please share your knowledge.
