Curated by Jillian Mcdonald, the exhibition features four video artists who perform in their own videos using low tech, do-it-yourself methods. All four artists take found media as a starting point - whether Hollywood films, archival interviews, or an audio tape found in a junk shop; humour and a sense of absurd pathos run throughout the work.

Zombies!

Fri Nov 12, 2010 00:00 - Sun Oct 24, 2010

Location:
United States of America

The Korn Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition “Zombies” by Jillian Mcdonald. The exhibition will be on view from October 26 through November 23, 2010. Reception Nov 12, 5:30pm - 7:30pm. The Gallery is located in the Dorothy Young Center for the Arts and is open Tuesday through Friday 12:30-4:00 PM and by appointment.

Jillian Mcdonald is exhibiting recent videos and drawings that focus on the canon of American horror film and "fear as entertainment" exemplified in that genre. Unlike contemporary horror film itself, her artwork eschews extreme gore and violence in favor of stripped-down narrative, plot, and archetypes.

The Fog

Starting new work, which I’ve been wanting to shoot for ages. Just worked out the details, locations, and the weather is finally (on April 4th) warm enough to linger outside without full Arctic gear. Here are some stills from the footage of two days filming.

VALLEY OF THE DEER
“Canadian video artist Jillian McDonald spent much of the past year as ‘artist in residence’ at Glenfiddich Distillery, in the highlands of Scotland. As a Burns’ Night tribute to both Art and Whisky, IDEAS host Paul Kennedy visits her in Dufftown, and watches while she makes single-malted art.”
