Jeremy Bailey is a video and performance artist whose work is often confidently self-deprecating in offering hilarious parodies of new media vocabularies (Marisa Olson, Rhizome). His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and festivals internationally. He received his MFA in Art Media Studies from Syracuse University in 2006. His work can be viewed, rented and acquired through Vtape in Toronto.
BIO
London Calling
I enjoyed the article and are glad you got to meet the talented and supportive guys of Lucky PDF, but I have to say though that you missed a very important gallery and organization right next door to Ben's place up in Manor House: HTTP Gallery and http://www.furtherfield.org. Marc and Ruth, who run HTTP, are both excellent curators and purveyors of the london scene. They have personally done more for my career than any other organization abroad; commissioning new work, publishing my writing, hosting me several times in London and introducing me to curators that have helped me even further in the UK. They are among the warmest huggers in the electronic world. :)
Perform for People .1
Dates:
Thu Jun 25, 2009 00:00 - Tue Jun 16, 2009

The first ever PERFORM FOR PEOPLE!
Perform for People is a new multi-disciplinary performance series. It showcases international and local artists, working in performance art, theatre, dance, new media, academia, etc...
Curated by Jeremy Bailey, Alex Snukal, and Alex Wolfson.
The first edition of PFP is at Gallery TPW in Toronto and will host all new performances by:
Marisa Olson (NYC)
Kevin Bewersdorf (NYC)
Philippe Blanchard (Toronto)
Marisa Olson will perform a new work centering on The Joys Of Cybersex.
Marisa's work "combines performance, video, net art, sound, drawing, and installation to address the cultural history of technology, the politics of participation within pop culture, and the aesthetics of failure. Her work has recently been presented by the Whitney Museum of American Art, Centre Pompidou-Paris, New Museum of Contemporary Art, 52nd International Biennale di Venezia."
Kevin Bewersdorf will present PUREKev, a performance that premiered at the New Museum in May.
PFP is excited to be the first to exhibit Kevin's work in Canada. Through ritual verses, video, and musical performance, Kevin Bewersdorf will introduce and expound upon the PUREkev: that info which dwells within the product of the Kev. Kevin Bewersdorf is an artist living in Brooklyn who has shown extensively. He teaches digital media at RISD in Providence, RI.
Philippe Blanchard will present Night Visions, a new performance in collaboration with Toronto's
The Torrent.
Philippe Blanchard works on video art projects, cinematography, live visuals and commercial post-production and animation. His collaborators have included local studio Head Gear Animation, filmmakers Kara Blake and Malcolm "The World Provider" Fraser , Toronto's The Torrent and Berlin-based hip-hop puppeteers Puppetmastaz. His artistic focus has shifted from explorations of perpetual motion and digital trickery to broader experiments with the language of animation and pop culture appropriation. Philippe is currently working on his MFA in Interdisciplinary Art at OCAD, where he is exploring ideas of expanded animation, combining animation with live performance or installation.
On PREDRIVE
that's awesome, I really need some wow gold. I've been looking everywhere for a good price.
ps. nice interview, really enjoyed it. Video will never and should never be sold. It's a bastardization. It's like charging someone for air. We should all be working as hard as possible to give everything away for free. Video is one of the easiest things to give away for free, except maybe music, or text....hey maybe in 100 years you'll be able to get a car for free. Or maybe next week.
