Hello everyone! Flaneur is an art zine, resolutely lo-fi, interested in all aspects of digital art. We have an urban, satirical edge, but want to spread the word about digital work. If you have a review of a show, a project you think is interesting, let us know.

Or you could interview yourself for our new series 'Artist interviews self.'

Please email any articles to editor@flaneur.me.uk
We don't get paid, this is a labour of love. we'll send you a zine though. If you want to submit work to flaneur please email me!

The Flaneur iphone film festival

Fri Jul 30, 2010 00:00

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

The Flaneur is running the first indie film festival held entirely on iphones. The selected films will be viewable as a downloadable Film Festival app from the Apple app store (subject to the usual acceptance by Apple). This is a proof-of-concept attempt to bring film and video to a whole new audience.

To keep download time low our first festival is restricted to films and videos of around 3 minutes in length. This is not a hard and fast limit - if your film is only a bit longer then we will still consider it.

Open - any film, any subject

Mobile - shot on a phone or mobile device

Animation - animation of any sort

Submission deadline: July 31st 2010

Final call for iPhone arts magazine submissions

Wed Jun 30, 2010 00:00

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

The next issue of The Flaneur is publishing as a newspaper and as an iPhone app. If you are an artist or writer and are interested in being a part of this project please submit reviews, art, cartoons, articles, poetry, short fiction. We are interested in anything cultural. More submission details are available at www.flaneur.me.uk

This issue has been delayed as we have ‘enjoyed’ the process of getting published as an iPhone app. The last issue is available in the app store now - search for Flaneur.

The deadline for the next issue is June 30th 2010. Thanks to everyone who has already submitted.

Any humourous short stories submitted will also be considered for an anthology of humourous fiction to be published as an iPhone app.

We are also working to bring our art and culture to other mobile platforms.

For more information on what we publish please visit www.flaneur.me.uk

iphone art exhibition

Mon May 31, 2010 00:00

Flaneur art and culture journal has opened a contemporary art gallery viewable on iphones and seeks artworks for its first exhibition.

This is a great way for painters and all other artists to experience their work in the new realm of mobile technology. With over 34 million iphones sold, and the wepapp viewable on the ipod Touch as well the potential for people to engage with your work is huge!

As this is the first call for work for our iphone exhibition we are looking for work of all kinds. It is only through experimentation that we will all see what works best in this new domain. We welcome work from traditional artists who do not normally engage with new-tech, as well as geekists who are only happy with an iphone in their hand.

Work should be a maximum size of 480 x 320 pixels, although it can be smaller. Any larger and it will be resized.
Image file size needs to be small enough to load quickly. Please use JPEGS and keep the size down. We may need to reduce the size further to aid loading.
If you need help with sorting this, please contact us.

Images will also be considered for publication in The Flaneur art journal.

The exhibition will open in early June 2010
Deadline for applications: End of May 2010
Entry fee £5

This is an exhibition by selection. If your work is selected we will contact you. We will try and contact everyone who enters, but this may be impracticable.

This exhibition will be viewable on iphones around the world at http://www.flaneur.me.uk/iphonegallery It will also be submitted to the Apple app store. Please visit http://flaneur.me.uk/iphone-exhibitions for more details and to enter.
If you need help with converting files, please email us at help@flaneur.me.uk

Good luck!
