Javier Duero [Spain, 1970] is an independent curator, art critic and journalist based in Madrid. He is specialized in video, new media, and sound art. A graduate in audiovisual communication by IORTV (Official Institute of Radio and Television, Complutense University of Madrid). He has made investigation and research in new media at the Foundation Daniel Langloise (Montreal) and in video at Videographe Center (Quebéc).

Duero has been involved in curating and organizing exhibitions and art events Since 1998, both as an artistic director and curator. He has worked developing projects for museums, art centers and institutions

During 2008, has been responsable for the AVLAB department of the Media Lab Prado Madrid.

In 2009, Duero was appointed by ARCO International Art Fair as guest curator for the Performance program Performing Los Angeles 2010.

He is currently directing Mapping Madrid, a research project about cultural industries and policies commissioned by CA2M Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo.

Since 2008 is a member of Pensart, a platform for cultural mediation.
