revised - San Francisco Mediatrips Competition

quick hello-

For the next year, I will be hosting a monthly competition. Media artists a=
re asked to rip and remix material from TV and Film to create something new=
/original related to the competition's theme.

There isn't much prize money so I decided to just donate it to EFF (the Ele=
ctronic Frontier Foundation) on behalf of the winner.

So if you are interested in supporting the right to rip and remix pop media=
and/or EFF then please pass this info along to anyone you think would be i=
nterested in the Competition.

OPPORTUNITY

4 competitions, 4 subjects and $400 (of my own money)

Deadline:
Fri Jun 25, 2004 20:23

Hi all-

I am going to personally host four small contests (two weeks each) to see w=
ho can rip and remix from TV/film/etc ... and I need some ideas for the fou=
r subjects/themes.

For example, "Ronald Reagan" may be one of the subjects ... the contestants=
would have to rip and remix anything they could find related to the ex-pre=
z

Another subject/theme may be ... "prescription drug commercial advertisemen=
ts". Hence, contestants would have to rip and remix from commercials like V=
iagra, Claritin, etc

Another theme may be that of a particular Film or Film Director.

Another may be a particular corporate brand

Or possibly a particular phrase such as "I have a dream" or "United we stan=
d".

So if there is any subject that you would like to have ripped and dissected=
then let me know.

Check out the website for more info ... www.mediatrips.com

Thanks,
