BIO
Daniel Temkin creates work exploring miscommunication between people and the mistranslation between systems; the humor as well as the loneliness and isolation that come from the impossibility of being understood.

Daniel is currently an MFA candidate at the International Center of Photography, and has worked as a programmer for fifteen years. He has exhibited his work in galleries and festivals in the US and Europe and has served as an artist in residence in Budapest and in Southern Italy.

Daniel Temkin

solo speed show / thesis show for the International Center of Photography/Bard MFA Program in Advanced Photographic Studies

The web is our parking lots, our strip malls, our office parks. On the large scale, it is often banal and commercial, a landscape that reveals and reinforces our compulsive habits. But on the small scale, the plumbing of the web is strange and surprising, something I expose by misusing this underlying technology.

Work in the show was created by Daniel Temkin between 2010 and 2012 and is open source, released under the appropriate Creative Commons or GNU GPL license.

Trunk

I like how subtle it is -- at first, it looks like a straight photo, but with a sense of something being off, until the effect registers.

Glitch Gifs (2010) - Max Capacity

These are really cool. The NES color palette is great, especially in the first image.
